From Mrs. Shobhaa De

Blogdosts, pass this on to all your friends in media. No. Pass it on to every single person you know who values freedom - it is all we really have!! The petition is self- explanatory. Our voices will help save an innocent man's life. And send a strong signal to oppressive regimes the world over that there are eyes, ears, voices and tears that still believe in human rights.

Dear Shobhaa De ,I'd be immensely grateful for your help.We are working with the Committee for the Protection of Journalists and Newsweek in New York to try and secure the release of the Iranian-Canadian journalist Maziar Bahari in Tehran. He was reporting on the elections in Iran and has been detained without charge since 21 June.We are asking leading editors and journalists around the world to sign a letter calling for his release. It will be sent to the head of the judiciary in Iran - and we would be delighted if you felt able to sign it. Signatories include CNN’s Cristiane Amanpour, leading Pakistani journalist Ahmed Rashid, the editor of Die Zeit, Josef Joffe, the editor of El Pais, Javier Moreno and celebrated Italian reporter Roberto Saviano.Maziar is one of the most remarkable reporters and film makers in his field. He has worked for the BBC (Newsnight and Panorama), and Channel 4, as well as reporting for Newsweek. His documentary films include ‘And Along Came A Spider’ about an Iranian serial killer and, most recently, ‘An Iranian Odyssey’ about the plot to overthrow Mossadegh in 1953.We believe that a strong protest from Maziar Bahari's peers at the highest level in Iran will form a significant part of the campaign for his release.http://www.newsweek.com/id/203036I look forward to hearing from you. With kind regards,Lily Ash Sakula,Index on Censorshipwww.indexoncensorship.org http://www.indexoncensorship.org/> +44 (0)20 7324 2522Sent on behalf of Jo Glanville, the Editor

Something to start!!

what a depression for an mumbai university student of computer engineering, creating my first blog after i have completed (note: results r yet to come anything can happen), my so called B.E.

Well sorry to say mumbai university is has the worst syllabus and worst nightmare for any engineer who is taking B.E admission in MU as a first step & even dreaming to even make it big in the field he/she chooses.

but not to say ppl youngsters today only for the fact of the location of the college in the mumbai suburgs take admission just to hv a good cllg lyf in mumbai not concerned abt what is goin to be taught whihc is least important, well all misconceptions of any person whos even thought tats mu can give their carrer a kickstart has got it cleared in the very first year of engg.

i hate to say but even a school going kid for that sake if admitted to engg studies in MU could easily mug up some text in text books or university question papers(just as he would in a school)
and can can score a decent marks. Is'nt there anyone out there who can can realize this and try to something atleast........
ohh we r talking about india here and especially maharashtra where as a mumbai kar havent seen any change in the education system its d same b******t that was taught 10 yesrs ago....
hell wen u even pass u r treated like some bloddy wannabees vy the companies and the teachers, th staff, university peons , cllg everyone want their share of the meat.... cant get it money rules here my firend!!!!!

well i m being too much self centered here now and i could tell u tat if an average individual is 2 take admission to a cllg under MU hes no-where without an extra class or atleast some cash to get the paper out b4 d exams or at least pay some cash to pass during revaluations.... engineering which has been a hyped class of individuals out there in the commercial market giving those Indian parent a chance to rip out their childrens future, having no knowledge of d Field..

talking about the above middle class and better classes of individuals the engineering in MU is a joke, and they collect their transcripts shell out an GRE , with a letter of recommendation from the so called college professor(ppl who belong to middle classes and just pass engg. and yesr b4 u just falling below the first class mark)
and get to the USA embassy to get their entry to the state universities in USA paying 20-50 lac for their 2 yr MS and having a better lyf.... now who's responsible y cant v hv a better acdemics ,
Y cant MU be counter among university of Manchester, California, Carnegie Mellon, or Cambridge for tat matter.....

well we can jusss keep on going on for complaining here but who know wen this is to end,
parent should realize dey r wasting their and their child time by educating their child in INDIA which only has a democracy for d politicians here. I think its time to bring in the foreign universities to lend their education system into India and completely boycott the Indian system giving them no income. this will make the politicians realize and change the system we hv already seen one of the effect after the last election ,

dey have decided to remove the 10th std examination and introduce grading system,
but still this is just an ice on cake i.e
only ideas have been presented on paper as million other programmes and will be pending till next election and new govt. shall again present new papers....
i think we as citizens should use our money wisely and for the betterment for out future and children...]

well change is yet to some and required..... we r helplessly waiting for corrupt politicians to decide our future .... we need to stand up People!!!
